The story of Julie Richards is adapted from the novel "Mustanger and the Lady" by Dusty Richards, who is a renowned western novelist. Julie is a woman of her time, who has been passed from hand to hand in a web of abuse and prostitution, which has brought her to the feet of Kyle Allison and his friends. Allison, a wealthy businessman in the historic west town of Goldfield, welcomed young Julie into his home and turned her into his prized possession. This life came with the benefit of being cared for, but at the expense of further abuse and exploitation. In the midst of Julie's perilous relationship with Allison, she is given two chances to escape, both with men who are diametrically opposed to one another. The plot of PAINTED WOMAN is divided into two unique chapters of Julie's life, with each chapter mimicking the previous one in every way. First, Julie and Frank meet in the first chapter of the book. Mostly at night in the town of Goldfield, the story is told. The Mustanger is the main character in Chapter Two of the book. Most of the story is told during the day because it takes place in a wilderness.
