Samuel Browne is an Alaskan tracker. When his sister is murdered in San Francisco, he travels there to find her murderer. Buckley Clarke, a police investigator, unwillingly joins forces with Sam when additional killings occur. The brass are confident that this is a serial killer picking victims at random, but Sam and Buckley notice a trend involving neonatal critical care nurses. Doctors aren't meant to be gods, but a mistake made years ago has pushed a serial murderer over the edge. Can they locate him?
