Hardened criminals Maggie Hayward's constant violence, even while she was in police custody, ends in the execution chamber. But top-secret US government agent "Bob" sets up a fake death so Maggie can be trained as a phantom killer and forced to obey. She gets a new alias, that of saleswoman Claudia Anne Doran. She also gets a great roommate in the form of building super J.P., a kind and open-minded photographer. The hit jobs get harder because the two fall in love. His good influence makes her think that love is more important than business, which is different from Bob's agency.
