Poor Cow

This was the first of several social realism films directed by Ken Loach, and it had less impact than those that were produced as television plays. Poor Cow chronicles the complex life of Joy, who finds refuge in Dave when her lover is imprisoned for stealing from a grocery store. Upon Dave's imprisonment, she is left with a son to care for on her alone. Her perspective changes when he goes missing and she realizes what is important.
