Seven-year-old Yoon-jeong is a young girl with a talent for painting who was born into a family of renowned court painters. Given that women aren't permitted to pursue careers as professional painters, the burden of continuing the cherished family legacy falls to her brother. Yoon-jeong helps her brother out by painting covertly for him as he prepares to take his place in the court. The suicide of her brother upends the little girl's life completely. She is compelled to live as a man and adopt her brother's name in order to protect the family's honor. Kim Hong-do, another legendary maestro of the era, is captivated by Yun-brilliance bok's and aptitude.
