Things are bad in Britain. A divided dystopian Britain is run by Queen Cymbeline, who isn't very good at her job. Cymbeline's mind is clouded by grief over the deaths of two of her children. Cymbeline exiles Posthumus after Innogen, the sole surviving heir, secretly marries her sweetheart. Behind the throne, someone who wants power plans to kill them both and take over. While Innogen's husband is in exile, he is tricked into thinking that she has been cheating on him. Out of sudden jealousy, he plans to have her killed. When Innogen hears about the danger, he runs away from court in a disguise and starts a dangerous journey that will eventually bring Cymbeline a long-lost heir and bring the young lovers back together.
