Alison Wynn is a novice triathlete who persuades Dr. Laura Stevens, a controversial peak-performance trainer, to accept her as a client. In order to make Alison more competitive, they embark on a rigorous program that combines cutting-edge physical training with experimental hypnotherapy. Dr. Stevens' punishing regimen pushes Alison to her limits and forces her to confront painful repressed memories of her mother's suicide, allowing her to post impressive gains and break through her own glass ceiling; but at what cost?
