Samurai III: Duel at Ganryu Island

Takezo, a humble and simple man, abandons his life as a knight errant. The Shogun, Japan's most powerful clan leader, seeks him out as a teacher and vassal. He's also challenged to a fight by the supremely confident and skilled Sasaki Kojiro. Takezo agrees to fight Kojiro in a year but refuses the Shogun's patronage, preferring to live on the outskirts of a village and raise vegetables. He is followed there by Otsu and, later, Akemi, both of whom are in love with him. Takezo ends the year by assisting the villagers in their fight against a band of brigands. He begs Otsu's forgiveness and accepts her love before sailing across the sea to Ganryu Island for his final competition.
