Piano teacher Luisa De Dominicus travels to Lucca in order to be with the man she loves: city councilman Ferdinando 'Bonci' Marinotti, who is running for mayor on a platform of moral principles. She believes that Fernando is a single man who lives with his ailing mother. It's not at all like this at all, however. In her building, the young guys incorrectly believe that Luisa is a call girl, and word quickly spreads among the nasty old men that she is a piano teacher. Signorina Luisa had a hole drilled in the wall between her flat and the bedroom of the landlord's son, Marcello Busatti, so the boys were able to get a great view of their neighbor. When Marcello first meets Luisa, he is instantly infatuated with her, but he is also unsure of her career. Luisa eventually discovers that Fernando is a philanderer, and after a lengthy misunderstanding, satisfies Marcello's unrequited lust/love for her.
