Her small community on Lake Tahoe is fortunate in that Meredith Hendricks is one of the best police officers in the county. When Clint, a black-market exotic species dealer, gets released from prison, something that he allowed to run amok begins to make itself felt. Swimmers and land lovers alike are becoming increasingly integrated into the food web at an alarming rate. Meredith and her team soon learn that they are not only on the hunt for a single eating machine, but for an entire family of eating machines as well.
