Smilla's Sense of Snow

Smilla Jaspersen, half Danish, half Greenlander, tries to comprehend the death of a young boy who falls from her apartment building's roof. Suspicious of wrongdoing, Smilla follows a trail of clues that leads to a mysterious corporation that has made several mysterious expeditions to Greenland. The film's scenes were shot in Copenhagen and western Greenland. The film was entered into the 47th Berlin International Film Festival, where director Bille August received a Golden Bear nomination.
