Alan (Gleeson), a twenty-something, is having a bad day. He finds himself working with his mother as a part-time tourism advisor at Dublin Airport, after being stood up at the altar and recently dismissed from his banking position. He runs across his first love, Alice (Paré), who is detained on a flight back to New York. Eight years ago, their summer romance ended with Alan promising to return to the United States. He never did, and the two haven't communicated in almost a year. Alan seizes the opportunity and persuades Alice to stay in Dublin for one more night.
