When the crew of the Enterprise is summoned back to Earth, they discover that an overwhelming force of horror within their own organization has destroyed the fleet and all that it represents, plunging the world into a state of crisis. Captain Kirk conducts a manhunt to a planet in the midst of a battle in order to apprehend a single individual armed with a weapon of mass devastation. As our heroes are thrust into an epic game of life and death chess, love will be tested, friendships will be severed, and sacrifices must be made for Kirk's crew, the only family he has left.
