Melanie McGuire was a fertility nurse, married to her ex-Navy husband Bill, and mother to two boys. Melanie does the unimaginable when she falls for Brad, a doctor at her clinic, and becomes engaged in a torrid love affair. She dismembers Bill after drugging and murdering him, then stuffs his body pieces into three suitcases and throws them into the Chesapeake Bay. However, when the luggage are discovered on the beaches of Virginia Beach, an inquiry is initiated, and Melanie is named as the major suspect. Melanie is eventually brought to justice, thanks to the efforts of Assistant Attorney General Patti Prezioso, who, despite her conviction, maintains her innocence.
