The 8-Year Engagement

Hisashi and Mai are a happy couple in their 20s that are engaged to be wed. But three months before their wedding celebration, Mai becomes seriously ill. Her heart stops briefly, and she falls into a deep coma. Hisashi gos to Mai at the hospital everyday before work. Without any idea if or when she will ever awake, Mai's moms and dads encourage Hisashi to find somebody else, but he declines to give up and continues to pray for her healing. As if his prayers are responded to, Mai begins to restore awareness a number of years later, and also says a couple of words. Yet tragically, she has actually suffered brain damage as well as has no memory of Hisashi.
