Air Force Colonel Kenneth Penmark and his wife Christine dote on their daughter Rhoda, as does Monica Breedlove, who lives next door and is alone. But Rhoda is secretly selfish and loves to fill her room with gifts, whether they are given to her or stolen. Christine hides the fact that she knows Rhoda has a dark side, but when one of Rhoda's classmates dies in a mysterious way, her lie falls apart.
