Following the hit-and-run death of his daughter, Freddy Gale has been waiting for six years for John Booth, the man who committed the crime, to be freed from jail. When Gale is released, he goes to see Booth and tells him that he is going to kill him in a week. Booth spends his time attempting to reconcile with himself and his comrades, as well as stumbling onto love. Because of his preoccupation with Booth, Gale's life is spinning into a downward spiral. It's inevitable that the two of them will run into each other at the conclusion of the week.
