The Cure

Dexter, an 11-year-old AIDS patient, and his next-door neighbor Eric, who is a little older and much bigger, become best friends. Eric also develops a stronger bond with Dexter's mother than with his own, who is neglectful and bigoted and violently forbids their friendship upon learning of it. Dexter and Erik set out on their quest to find "The Cure," which they had read about in the local newspaper.
