In the 1990s, when Go gambling fever swept over Korea, Gui-su loses everything because his father was an obsessive gambler to the point where there was nothing left for him to bet with. After being cast out into the world by his family, Gui-su meets Il-do, a Go instructor, and the two begin a grueling training regimen together in order for Gui-su to become the Go grandmaster. He embarks on a mission of vengeance against the world that ruined his life, but he soon discovers that he is being pursued by an anonymous hermit who is out for his own version of revenge.
