With the help of her two daughters and a simple diner she owned, Alice Pratt raised them. Andrea, her snobbish and arrogant daughter, got a degree in economics and now works for a construction company. Her sister, Pam, stayed with Alice and worked at the diner, where she met Alice. Andrea is married to Chris, a construction worker who works for the same company as his wife. Chris wants to start his own business, but Andrea wants him to work for her. With their boss, William Cartwright. William is the son of Alice's best friend, Charlotte Cartwright, who is very rich and has a lot of money. While Alice and Charlotte go on a road trip, William's ambition and infidelity start a chain of events that will change both families' relationships.
