The Geographer Drank His Globe Away

While teaching geography at a secondary school in Perm (in the Ural Mountains), Victor Sluzhkin gets caught in a blur of hard vodka, desperation for love for an ethereal student, and the exhaustion of educating adolescents. Sluzhkin, as the students affectionately refer to him, attempts to get away from the hard, monotonous, and stultifying reality of Russian provincial life by taking a rafting trip over the Ural Mountains. Geographer is on the verge of discovering himself and his own truth, accompanied by a group of wild, adventure-seeking youngsters and confronted with the various nasty surprises of nature.
