Secretary Marilyn "Lynn" David falls for British aristocrat Charles Gray Granville, much to the dismay of her closest friend, reporter Pete Dawes, who secretly loves her. After learning that Gray's engagement has devastated Lynn, Pete writes a fake story portraying her as a "No Girl" who turned down the proposal of a cold aristocrat. Nonetheless, when Lynn's sudden notoriety draws Gray back into the spotlight, she finds herself in an impossible position.
