When Harum, a bold man of the people, travels to Bagdad to revenge his father's death, he meets Krairuzan, a princess disguised as a commoner who is fighting against a conspiracy by a group of malevolent schemers who are attempting to depose her father, the Caliph. She bestows upon Harum a golden sword, which, when held in his hands, renders him invincible. Using the sword in the service of justice, Harum is doing pretty well until a replica sword is placed in his scabbard during one of his off-guard moments, and he finds himself imprisoned by the government.
