Two cops must work together to take on an international drug-smuggling ring: one is an unconventional Irish cop and the other is a straight-laced FBI agent. Sergeant Gerry Boyle is a quirky small-town cop with a confrontational and crass personality and a dark sense of humor. Boyle, a long-serving police officer in County Galway, is a rebel with his own moral code. He's seen enough of the world to realize there's not much to it and has had plenty of time to reflect on it. When a fellow officer goes missing and Boyle's small town becomes central to a large drug trafficking investigation, he is forced to at least pretend to be interested when dealing with the case's assigned FBI agent, Wendell Everett.
