It isn't possible for Bobby to join heaven after he dies in a car accident; instead, he must remain in one of the lower levels until he has served long enough as a guardian angel to earn his way into paradise. It's Lenny, a talented young guy who has a crush on Sharon, the most gorgeous girl in the class, as one of his side gigs. In the meantime, he is on the verge of taking his own life because she is completely oblivious to him. Bobby stops this by dressing Lenny up as a playboy and tough guy so that he gets what he wants, even though Bobby knows this isn't the greatest way to achieve what he wants. Bobby is relieved when he learns that Lenny's mother is his ex-new girlfriend's husband. She sees him even if he isn't authorized to.
