The Island of Lies

2 January 1921, Galicia, northern Spain. The vessel Santa Isabel, carrying almost 200 emigrants to Argentina, sinks off the shore of Sálvora Island. Three island women, Mara, Josefa, and Cipriana, who valiantly set sail aboard a flimsy skiff to help the stranded, are hailed as heroes by the cynical authorities; nevertheless, León, an inquisitive and tenacious Argentinean journalist, begins asking unpleasant questions.
