Set in early 1900s Shanghai, THE LAST TYCOON follows the story of CHENG (Chow Yun-Fat), a young man set up by the police chief (Sammo Hung) and forced to leave his life and QIU (Monica Mok) behind. After escaping prison, CHENG rises quickly and violently through Shanghai's criminal underworld to become one of the city's most prominent mob bosses. With the oncoming Japanese army and the scheming local secret agency, celebrity and renown take their toll on CHENG. Worse still, he runs across his lifelong love QIU and her writer spouse.
