Colonel Hyde, who has been involuntarily retired, recruits seven other dissatisfied ex-servicemen for a special project. Each of the men is a service-trained expert in his field with a skeleton in the closet. The job is a bank robbery, and Hyde and second-in-command Race impose military discipline and planning on the team, despite civilian irritations.
