At the turn of the twentieth century, the cruel, wealthy Hubbard clan inhabits and poisons their region in the deep South. Regina Giddons née Hubbard has complete control over her kid. Mrs. Giddons and her husband, who is convalescing in Baltimore and has a terminal illness, are estranged. She will therefore influence her daughter to assist her bring him back home. She is negotiating a shady business transaction with her two older brothers, Oscar and Ben. Oscar's wife is flighty and unhappy, and his son is a dishonest worm. Will the girl be required to marry this abhorrent cousin? Which will she become, her mother or her aunt? Or is she able to avoid the destiny of both?
