Dennis Barlow, newly arrived in Hollywood from England, must arrange his uncle's burial in the highly-organized and highly-profitable Whispering Glades mortuary. One of their cosmeticians, Aimee Thanatogenos, catches his attention. But he faces three obstacles: the rigorous restrictions of owner Blessed Reverend Glenworthy, the rivalry of embalmer Mr. Joyboy, and the humiliation of now working at The Happy Hunting Ground pet cemetery.
