The Marriage of Maria Braun

At the end of World War II, Maria gets married to Hermann, who goes to fight right away. The war comes to an end, and Maria thinks that Hermann is dead when it does. She starts working at an Allied bar. Bill, an American soldier, is there, and they start to talk to each other. They start a relationship, but it is cut short when Hermann comes back to life. Maria accidentally kills Bill during a fight between the two men, and he doesn't know it. Hermann takes the blame and goes to jail, while Maria starts a new life that is hard.
