Angela Bennett is a freelance software engineer who lives in the world of computers. When a cyber friend asks Bennett to fix some bugs in a new game, she gets caught up in a plot that will soon turn her life upside down. During her trip to Mexico, someone steals her purse. Assasins are sent to kill her, and she soon learns that people and events aren't always what they seem to be. Her trip is spoiled. She goes to the U.S. Embassy in Mexico to get a new passport, but it has the wrong name on it: Ruth Marx. When she goes back to the U.S. to figure things out, she finds out that Ruth Marx has a bad past and a long record of being in trouble with the law. To make matters worse, someone else has taken her real name...
