The Onion Field

As a partner in crime, Greg Powell recruits Jimmy Youngblood, a small-time criminal, to help him get what he wants. Powell gets scared when two cops pull them over for not having their tail lights on, so he runs away. When Powell comes up with the idea of kidnapping the police, Smith agrees to go along with his crazy plan. Out in Bakersfield, they drive to a deserted onion field where a cop is killed and the other one is able to get away. The film looks at the consequences.
