The Only examines Briana Scurry, a goalkeeper who is a member of the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame, during her exceptional life. A Hall of Fame goalie who was the only openly gay and the only Black starter on the pitch is the subject of a documentary that looks at both his inspirational heights and his incredibly dark sides. The movie not only honors Scurry's historic legacy, which includes two Olympic gold medals and a penalty save that helped the United States win the 1999 Women's World Cup, but also tells the tale of how she overcame racism and homophobia at the height of her success before later finding herself on the brink of suicide after suffering a concussion that ended her career.
