The Petrified Forest

There are three people who meet in the Petrified Forest area of Arizona: a drifter, a waitress, and a well-known gangster. Alan, a writer who is broke, goes into the diner where Gabrielle works and talks to her. In Europe, Gabrielle wants to study art. She and Alan become close when they talk about Europe and she tells him about her dreams. It turns out that Duke Mantee is there and takes the customers hostage.
