Brady, a once-rising rodeo star and skilled horse trainer, is informed that his riding days are finished after a horse crushes his head at a rodeo. Brady's sense of inadequacy grows as he is unable to ride or rodeo— the necessities of being a cowboy–back home on the Pine Ridge Reservation, with little desire or choices for a different way of life.
