During his final semester of seminary, a young man named Ryan comes out to his professors as gay. Despite his school's anti-gay policies, Ryan has two gay students, Gerald and Anthony, with whom he may openly discuss his homosexuality. Furthermore, he has a close relationship with his religiously conservative mother, who has no idea of his sexual orientation. In order to pursue a doctorate at the university of his dreams, Ryan must first finish a strong theology thesis. During his research for 'The Divine Gift of Love,' Ryan initiates a connection with Bradley, a stranger he met online who appears to be incapable of making a commitment. It is only when Ryan confides in Gerald and Anthony that he learns of their own romantic difficulties. As a result, Ryan questions his belief in God's gift of unconditional love.
