The wicked fairy Carabosse rages she wasn't welcomed to Princess Aurora's christening. She gives the baby a spindle, saying that one day the Princess will puncture her finger on it and also die. The Lilac Fairy makes her very own christening gift a softening of Carabosse's curse: Aurora will not pass away, but will fall into a deep sleep, which just a prince's kiss will certainly damage. The masterful 19th-century choreography of Marius Petipa is combined with sections developed for The Royal Dancing by Frederick Ashton, Anthony Dowell and also Christopher Wheeldon.
