When Verden Fell's beloved wife passes away, he is devastated. Despite this, Fell soon finds himself remarried following an unexpected meeting with Lady Rowena Trevanion. In spite of this, Fell's late wife's presence appears to linger over the crumbling abbey that he shares with his new wife. In the course of her investigation, Lady Rowena comes to the horrible realization that Fell's dead wife is far closer than she ever believed.
