The plutocrat U.S. Bates takes his spoiled son Eric to his department store on one of his annual visits, and offers him everything in the store as a gift. Eric is a spoiled brat. Eric chooses a black janitor who has made him laugh in the past with his antics as his date. At first, the man is subjected to many indignities as Eric's "toy," but over time, he teaches the lonely youngster what it is like to have and to be a friend himself.
