Packard Walsh and his motorcycle gang rule and torment an Arizona desert town, forcing drivers to drag race in order to 'win' their vehicles. After Walsh murders the respectable adolescent Jamie Hankins after discovering him with his girlfriend, a strange power develops Jake Kesey, an extraordinarily cool motorcyclist with an invincible automobile.
