Under the Open Sky

Following the completion of his term for murder, Mikami, a former member of the Yakuza who is now in his middle years and has spent the majority of his life behind bars, is released. He submits an application for a TV show in the of meeting a young TV director named Tsunoda with the expectation that he will eventually locate his long-lost mother. He was taken from his mother when he was a toddler. In the meantime, he faces challenges in his attempts to establish himself professionally and integrate into society. The relationship he has with Tsunoda and the people who wish to help him is strained due to the fact that he is impetuous, stubborn, and deeply held in his ideas.
