Black marketeers Marko and Blacky manufacture and sell weapons to the Communist resistance in Belgrade during World War II, while simultaneously enjoying the high life along the way. Marko's bizarre double life helps him rise through the ranks of the Communist Party, and in the end, he betrays Blacky and takes his girlfriend to have all for himself. After spending a significant amount of time hidden underground, the pair eventually emerges during the Yugoslavian Civil War of the 1990s when Marko comes to the conclusion that the situation is ripe for exploitation.
