A gritty documentary in which filmmaker Steve Stanulis and producer Noel Ashman together investigate the temptations and hardships that many young celebrities face on their path to recognition, Wasted Talent is a must-see for everyone interested in entertainment. It tells the life of actor Lillo Brancato, who was once hailed as the next Robert De Niro after playing in films such as A Bronx Tale (De Niro's directorial debut), Renaissance Man, Crimson Tide, and the famous television series The Sopranos, among others. Brancato, on the other hand, became entangled in the underbelly of Hollywood and eventually became a drug addict, which resulted in his incarceration for the murder of a New York City police officer while on a narcotics trip that went horrifically wrong. Despite the fact that Brancato was found not guilty of the murder accusation, he was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison for attempted burglary. He was finally able to get clean and sober while serving his sentence in prison, and is now working hard to rebuild his reputation in the fickle world of entertainment.
