The summer of 1945. For the eight children liberated from the Gross-Rosen camp, a temporary orphanage is established in an abandoned palace surrounded by forests. Hanka, a former inmate, takes over as their guardian. Following the atrocities of the camp, the protagonists gradually begin to reclaim what remains of their childhood, but the horror quickly returns. Camp Alsatians can be found roaming the surrounding forests. They've gone feral and are starving after being released by the SS. They besiege the palace in search of food. The kids are terrified, and their camp survival instinct kicks in.
