21 Jump Street

There were a total of 103 episodes of the American police procedural crime drama television series 21 Jump Street, which aired on the Fox Network and in first run syndication from April12, 1987 to April27,1991. The series was produced in the United States. The series follows a team of young-appearing undercover police detectives as they investigate crimes that take place in high schools, colleges, and other places frequented by teenagers. It was supposed to be called Jump Street Chapel, after the deconsecrated church building in which the unit had its offices. However, Fox requested that the title be altered so that viewers would not be led to believe that the show was some kind of religious program. The television show was developed by Patrick Hasburgh and Stephen J. Cannell, and it was produced by Patrick Hasburgh Productions, Stephen J. Cannell Productions, and 20th Century Fox Television. Hasburgh, Cannell, Steve Beers, and Bill Nuss were all involved in producing the show as executive producers. The program, which debuted on the Fox Network when it was still in its infancy and was an immediate success, was developed with the intention of drawing in a younger viewership. The last season was broadcast in first-run syndication, with the majority of airings occurring on local Fox stations. In subsequent years, between 1996 and1998, it was shown again on the cable network FX. Johnny Depp's acting career was only getting started when he was cast in this series, and it catapulted him to the status of teen idol across the country. Although Depp felt this status to be vexing, he was obligated to continue working on the project and was compensated $45,000 for each episode he appeared in. After four seasons, his contract was finally terminated and he was freed from his obligations. Booker was a spin-off television series that was created for the character of Dennis Booker; it aired for a single season, from September 1989 to June 1990.
