Mike Noonan, a best-selling author, is unable to cope with the tragic death of his wife, so he returns to the lakeside retreat that he and his wife shared in Maine. There, he gets engaged in a custody fight between a young widow and the extremely wealthy grandparents of her child. Mike is suddenly confronted with unexplained apparitional sightings, worsening nightmares, and the revelation that his late wife is trying to communicate with him even after she has passed away.
