From January5, 2009 to December12,2011, Being Erica was a Canadian comedy-drama television series that aired on CBC. The Session, created by Jana Sinyor, was originally announced by the CBC as The Session, but was renamed Being Erica before its 2009 premiere. Temple Street Productions produced it, and BBC Worldwide distributed it abroad. Erin Karpluk plays Erica Strange, a woman who starts seeing a therapist to deal with regrets in her life, only to find out that the therapist has the capacity to send her back in time to relive and even change those events. The second season premiered in Canada on September22, 2009. Due to CBC funding limitations, only 12 episodes were produced for the second season. Being Erica was renewed for a third season of 13 episodes by the CBC on May11, 2010. Soapnet also announced that it will be picking up the entire third season. The third season premiered on CBC Television on September 21, 2010, at 9 p.m. ET. Season 3 premiered on Soapnet in the United States on January26, 2011. The fourth and last season of the show aired in the fall of 2011. Although the show was never formally cancelled by the CBC, Sinyor told TV Guide during the fourth and final season run that she had no plans to develop or create a fifth season.
