Biography is a television documentary series. From 1961 to 1964, it was a half-hour filmed series created by David Wolper for CBS and hosted by Mike Wallace. The A&E Network later re-aired it, and fresh episodes have been produced since 1987. The older version contained historical people like Helen Keller and Mark Twain, as well as long-dead entertainers like Will Rogers and John Barrymore. Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Plácido Domingo, Freddie Mercury, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Eric Clapton, Pope John Paul II, Gene Tierney, Selena, Diego Rivera, Mao Zedong, and Queen Elizabeth II have all been featured in the A&E series, as have fictional characters such as The Phantom, Superman, Hamlet, Betty Boop, and Santa Claus.
