Blue Thunder is a 1984 TV show on ABC that is based on the movie of the same name. The Blue Thunder helicopter is a big part of the movie. The Aérospatiale Gazelle helicopter was changed for the show, and a lot of stock footage from the 1983 movie was used. In the TV show, the helicopter was backed up by a ground unit called "Rolling Thunder." A desert camouflage off-road vehicle was stored inside this big support van. James Farentino, Dana Carvey, and Bubba Smith and Dick Butkus, who used to play professional American football, are all in the cast of the TV show. ABC ended the show because they thought a similar show on CBS, Airwolf, would get more viewers. Also, the show aired on Friday nights at the same time as the CBS soap opera Dallas and lost. Before the show was stopped, there were eleven episodes.
